NEWS: Bayern Munich star player Push for Barcelona transfer after saying goodbye to Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski has his heart set on playing for Barcelona next season. Despite his contract with Bayern Munich running until June 2023, he has put pressure on the Bavarians to let him depart the club this summer.

All his remarks over the last month have been in that direction, especially his statements on Monday while on international duty with Poland. Meanwhile, Barcelona have applauded his firm stance.

My time at Bayern is over,” Lewandowski said at a press conference on Monday.

“I don’t see any possibility of continuing my career there. The best solution is an exit. I hope they won’t keep me.”

A few hours earlier, the 33-year-old, who turns 34 in August, also spoke about his future and the fact that he has been linked with a move to LaLiga Santander.

“Spain is great! We have a home in Mallorca,” Lewandowski told Eleven Sports.

“The feeling for Spain is there and I think it’s a really good place, not just for holidays.”

But Lewandowski’s statements in recent days have understandably not gone down well at Bayern Munich.

“I can’t tell you why Robert chose this way of communicating his situation,” said the current CEO of the German club, Oliver Khan.

“Public statements like that get you nowhere.”

Bayern are fed up with his attitude, as his indirect comments in favour of Barcelona’s proposal are constant.

“I won’t sign a new contract,” Lewandowski said on May 14.

“We have to find the best solution for both parties. It’s quite possible that this was my last game in these colours. I can’t say for sure, but it’s possible it was. We want to find the best solution for me and for the club.”

All his statements and actions in recent weeks have been aimed at forcing his exit and making it clear that he is only thinking about a move to Barcelona, the team with whom he started talking to a few months ago.

His agent, Pini Zahavi, who maintains a great relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, has also been making his position clear for some time.

“For Lewandowski, Bayern is in the past,” the super-agent said 10 days ago.

Robert wants to leave after eight years of working together, during which he gave everything for the club. Now, at the age of almost 34, he has the chance to realise the dream of his life. Why are Bayern taking this opportunity away from him?”

Barcelona are delighted with Lewandowski’s remarks and actions, as well as those of his agent, as they understand that it will work in their favour in the negotiations with Bayern Munich. They estimate that his arrival will cost the club between 35 and 40 million euros.

Laporta and Xavi Hernandez want to sign the Polish striker and the club are confident of clinching a deal with the Bavarians, but, as of today, Barcelona do not have the financial resources to afford his signing.

However, they hope to have them very soon as the club are awaiting a transfer or the sale of some of their assets to finance the signing of Lewandowski.

In fact, the Barcelona board is meeting today, Tuesday, at 12:00 CEST in La Jonquera, and the main point of the meeting is to finalise some of the financial deals, such as the sale of 49 per cent of BLM (Barca Licensing & Merchandising), which will facilitate Lewandowski’s arrival.

The veteran forward told reporters on Monday that he would wait until after the UEFA Nations League window comes to an end on June 14 to further discuss about his future.

After the competition we’ll have time to talk about the situation, but I don’t see any chance of staying at Bayern any longer,” he said.
